Let me introduce you to an old friend. Can you believe that my bottle of Play Til Midnight actually pre-dates this blog?
From OPI’s 2008 Holiday In Toyland collection (one of the best collections OPI ever released, in my opinion), Play Til Midnight is part of the same family as Russian Navy and Ink. I’d probably go so far as to say that if you already own either of those polishes that you probably don’t neeeed Play Til Midnight, but let’s take a look any way.
In the bottle, this is utterly, utterly beautiful. I don’t know why it took me over two years to try it out. Madness. I think I have to be in the right mood for a blue. Despite the age of this polish, it applied like a dream. This is three coats. Two
would have been fine, but I was taking my time and wanted to do a manicure that would last for a while.
Indoors and away from bright light, this looks just like your average not-quite-black jelly polish. But get this under an electric light (or summer daylight), and this really glows. It contains pink and blue micro shimmer that add depth and interest, and once under that light, I can’t stop staring at it.
These photos were taken on the fourth day of wear as I just didn’t want to take it off. There are a few scratches and a bit of tipwear as I decided to give Poshe topcoat another whirl. Still not
overly impressed but it seems to do better over a jelly than over a creme. It’ll do.
I think this is still easy enough to find on the internet. If you don’t already have Ink or Russian Navy then this really is a lovely polish. I’m glad I have it in my collection.
I wonder what other little gems I have lurking in the untrieds that are in dire need of a moment in the spotlight?
