This is the polish that totally rekindled my love for OPI. Not that I ever fell out of love with them , particularly, but I do occasionally get blinded by other brands. However, there’s no denying that I own more OPI than anything else, and I pretty much love them all.
I’m Fondue Of You is from the classic La Collection De France of 2008. Still fondly thought of as one of the best OPI collections of all time, I’m Fondue of You is one of those perfect autumnul polishes.
Now, just a note on the name. It appears to refer to chocolate fondue, as I’ve never seen cheese this colour. I’ve always steered clear of those chocolate
fountain things, partially because I know have seen much oil and mank goes into those things, and mainly because I get concerned that I’ll drip it all down my fancy dress that I am usually wearing when I see one of those things – weddings, balls, parties etc. Cheese fondue, however, is a different matter – bring it on!
This is an absolute classic brown, which really does resemble liquid chocolate from a distance. What stops it from being a bit flat though is the subtle pinky-red shimmer that comes out to play when under a bright light. You can tell this is a red-based brown so it will probably suit cooler toned girls better but it’s still very lovely.
Every time I use a nail varnish from the France collection I find myself getting all re-excited again by how fabulous they are (the same goes for the Russians as well). This was perfectly opaque in two coats, and dried nice and fast. I confess to using non Big-3-free Seche Vite over Big-3-free OPI polishes, as unlike Zoya or China Glaze, they just seem to cope better and wear for longer than other brands.
So, although not dramatically different or unique, I do love this polish. It goes with everything and never lets me down. It really is as warming and comforting as a mug of hot chocolate.
I was thrilled when reader Andrea included this in the amazing package of polishes she recently sent me that she no longer used. Merci, Andrea, Tres bien!
I love this so much, this confirms that I should get it- it’ll be my next OPI purchase xxx
Oh this really is very lovely. I too have most OPI although LD is running a close second, it is the whole package with OPI, the brushes, the shades, the length of wear. Thanks for this. Jan x
I actually quite like the colour but I just don’t like Opi polishes and I promise I keep trying but I find they are either far too runny and puddle or they drag and leave tracks on my nails. I have a few of them lurking thanks to gifts. I really want to like the brand but its not happening for me!
Avec Plaisir Helen!
I completely agree with you that the France and Russian collections were the best ones from OPI. I don’t think there is a shade in either than I don’t like or find very wearable X
Never even heard of this. It’s gorgeous.
Looks absolutely gorgeous.
This is such a delicious looking polish. Love that shade of chocolate. Looks wonderful on you. Don’t nibble on your nails when you want some chocolate!
