OPI Cozu Melted In The Sun

The curse of Selfridges. I only went in to buy one nail varnish. And it really was only going to be one. Selfridges is expensive and I’ve always found the ladies who look after the OPI counter to be a bit snooty. And there I was, all done and happy with my selection of one nail varnish (OPI Crimson Carol, fact fans) when I spied this one sitting on the cash desk waiting to be put out.

Now here’s the thing. I KNEW that this wasn’t going to suit me. So why did I buy it? I have no idea. Kind of like when the supermarkets put cheapo DVDs and magazines and general tat by the till to make you splash out on an impulse purchase. And I’m normally so resilient!

So. I was nervous that this gave me a kind of mannequin hand. In a really weird, coral, glass flecked kind of mannequin freak hand way. I wasn’t sure if it was just me, so put out a message on Twitter to see if anyone else has the same problem, and apparently not. It is a much loved polish. Indeed, when I included it in my most recent blog sale, it was one of the first items to go.

So whilst I am pleased that this nail varnish has gone to a happy home, I have to say, it wasn’t for me.

It’s kind of sheer – this was four coats in the end and as you can see, I still have rather chronic visible nail line. Maybe it would be better for toes? In fact, I can see this making a rather spangly summer pedicure for someone with a different skin tone to me.

In terms of the finish of this one, I really like it. I am a big fan of the glass flecked look, and this is something that OPI offer up all too rarely. It’s pretty, and it sparkles. And in reality, it is nice- it looks really glitzy in the bottle (hence my magpie eye spotting it under those bright lights in Selfridges & bringing it home) but sadly, the base shade just isn’t me.

  1. From your pic it looks very like Pink Before You Leap which I got along with Up Front And Personal as a gift from a friend at my birthday…..unfortunately I really dislike both of them. Far to runny to apply, too sheer and they make my fingers look anaemic erring on the side of dead!

I’ll stick to my cremes they make me happy!

  2. Could you wear this over a light taupe or cream matte – and essentially use this as an “effects” topcoat?

I have this, and like it – but it works better with my skintone, and I have such nubby nails that VNL is almost never a problem. It’s similar to Nubar’s Peach Sherbet.

  3. Looks so pretty in the bottle. I adore glass flecked polishes. I don’t have enough nail either to worry about VNL. I just looked at my book to see if I had this and I do! Yay! Also goes to show me how many polishes I haven’t worn. I hate when a polish makes my skin look so sickly.
