New from Veet - Just Nice Things

New from Veet

Read Time:3 Minute, 20 Second

When people meet Helen, they ask her about nail polishes.  When people meet me, they probe me about bikini waxes.  It’s good to know we are both making our mark on beauty blogging in quite the distinguishable manner.  Any way, you know me, I never get tired of personal grooming so I was thrilled when Veet approached me with their latest innovation – the Veet EasyWax™ Roll-On Kit home-waxing system with a difference.

Now I’ve been a consumer of Veet since the days it was called Immac (ahem!).  My first foray into hair removal was their depilatory cream.  Oh my, how much did that stink?  But for a teenager, it was strangely mesmerising to watch the hairs burn and distintergrate before my very eyes and without any pain!

Depilatory creams are notoriously messy, smelly and they don’t always give perfect results.  Suffice to say, I only attempted this method a handful of times until I discovered sugaring, epilation, cold wax, hot wax, wax strips, laser (all of which were either at home or in a salon) and a pain threshold that would be make your eyes water.  (I made an ex cry after he requested I wax his shoulders with some Veet strips…still remains as one of my happiest moments in a slightly sadistic way…)

There are some things I leave to the professionals but when it comes to legs, I am happier ripping the hairs straight from the roots at home.  It’s cheaper, convenient and I am confident at it.  I have tackled the bikini area many times too.  The funny thing is, I’ve always bought Veet’s wax strips and I’m not saying this because this post is about Veet.  I’ve spent a fair amount on their wax strips and can wholeheartedly say Veet’s quality is head and shoulders above their competitors.  I trust no other.

So what’s different about this latest new addition to the Veet range?  Veet have brought out a pot of microwaveable wax with strips for home waxing but this one vows to go one step further by bringing salon waxing to the privacy of your own home with this nifty new gadget.

Basically it’s a hand-held, self-heating home-waxing system with a roll-on applicator.  All you’ve got to do is pop in the wax refill, plug it in and in 20 minutes, you’re ready to roll.  There is one refill for waxing arms and legs, and one with a narrow head for bikini lines and underarms (available separately).

The device heats the wax to the correct temperature too so there is no danger of over-heating and burning yourself.  It also keeps the temperature consistent so you won’t have to keep dashing to the kitchen to re-heat the wax once it’s cooled down and it promises to apply the wax evenly with the roll-on.  All that’s left to do is press on the fabric strip and in one swift motion rip it off.  Sounds like a doddle.  Are you tempted?  I’ll be giving it a go and will report back.

Veet EasyWax™ Electrical Roll-On Kit comes with an applicator for arms and legs, and a wax refill for £29.99.  A small roll-on head for the bikini and underarm is available for £9.99 and a refill wax for legs and arms is £9.99 too.

Want to be the first to buy this?  Well the Veet EasyWax™ Electrical Roll-On Kit is available through an exclusive pre-release on Boots from today (Wednesday, 23rd of November) with a limited 300 kits on sale so you’ll have to be quick (rather like pulling off a wax strip!)  However, if you miss out, the kit will be on shelves nationwide from January next year.

If you do get one, let me know what you think especially if you’re a Veet virgin.  The lovely Arezoo – the Persian queen of waxing – reckons even a nervous first-timer can use this.

Alas, I have a bit of a funny story about waxing.
I currently have one leg that grows hair more than the other..

Over a year ago I decided to take the plunge and wax my legs. I managed one leg. The pain was too much to be putting myself through. I really was screaming my head off in the bathroom! I could not bring myself to do the other leg. A year on, the effect of this is still noticeable.

    I think I’m just a bit of a wimp.

I had friend wax my mustache. She almost killed me! Never again. Didn’t work that well. How are you doing sweetie? Hope your doing well. Love to you. I keep you in my prayers every night.

Haha. At least he didn’t get what one of my friends had – about six women holding him down while another tried to ‘wax’ his chest hair with parcel tape. 😉 (There may have been alcohol involved. Maybe.)

Veet depilatory cream is one of the nastiest ones I’ve come across in the time I’ve using the stuff on my upper lip. Also, unfortunately, one of the more effective. The Boots one stings the least but also take a couple of gos to get all the hair. I guess the smell and stingyness correspond to strength… 🙁

Parcel tape?! Was it effective? What about duct?

  5. […] I told you about Veet’s latest arrival to the hair removal party – their EasyWax™ Roll-On Kit.  I then waited a little longer for the hairs on my legs to grow so I could test the product out […]
