I was faced with something of a huge quandary the other day. I’ve not made a secret of the fact that I think Nails Inc is an over-priced underperforming product, but when the email advertising the new Liquid Metals popped into my inbox, I couldn’t resist them. Beautiful shimmering tones, I decided to give Nails Inc one more chance to impress me. (plus the phrase “limited edition” always makes my credit card leap with anticipation).
Five shades in all, I bought three of them. I left Park Crescent (silver) and Serpentine Road (royal blue) for someone else. But here are the shades I did buy. Take a look and let me know what you think…

Symons Street is marketed as a teal. I’m not so sure about that – to me it looks more like a deep turquoise that is shot with silver. Imagine China Glaze’s DV8 without the holo effect and you’ve got it. I did the wear test with this one. It looked pretty good for two days, but on the third it just went haywire, falling off everywhere and going from ok to shabby in about an hour. However, this is ONE coat. Amazing, eh?

Lexington Road is the one I thought I would like most from the promotional pictures. Reminding me strongly of polishes like OPI Have You Seen My Limo? or Black Tie Optional (which I have, but have yet to blog about), it is incredibly complex. This is two coats. It isn’t (as I expected) a duochrome. Sure, it has duochromatic tendencies, but it doesn’t behave like a duochrome. It is a base of murky red-black jelly, containing small flecks of green and purple shimmer, which knit together to give a really interesting foil effect. So dramatic, and so unusual for Spring.

Franklin’s Row was actually the one of the three that I liked the best. I think because it reminded me strongly of Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Scrangie. Let me be clear though, there are no dupes that I know of for these new Nails Inc polishes – at least, not the ones I bought. This has a reddish purple base, and contains the most fabulous pink and purple shimmer inside it. These are so complex that they are almost impossible to describe, which doesn’t help you much, but the pictures are accurate, at least.
So, what do you think? At £11 each (10ml) they really are not cheap. However, I don’t regret purchasing these as they truly are different to anything else I have in my collection – or indeed, like anything else on the market. Does that class them as an investment? Either which way, and never ever thought I’d be saying this about a Nails Inc polish, I don’t think you’d be sorry if you snapped these up.
Helen
Snap them up I shall. But not at that price. Nails Inc are always doing offers and multi-buys and you can get them much cheaper on ebay and random cheapo cosmetic sites.
I KNEW they would be good/fantastic. But they ain’t getting £11 off me in a hurry….
Lexington Road looks lovely but it reminds me a bit of MAC’s Formidable. I wish we had this brand in Canada!
Oooh, thanks for posting these so quickly. They all look lovely and except maybe Symons Street, they look unique for my collection too. It was my birthday yesterday and amazingly these same 3 polishes arrived for me today from my dear friend Liz, she knows me well!

I just went ‘oooh’ out loud when I got to the pic of Lexington Road. Gorgeous.
Oooho that teal is just fabulous. The purples actually look a bit of a disappointment.
Must admit not bought any nails inc in a while now. I think I seem to be feeling a bit dissatisfied with all nail polish brands at the moment.
I have a love/hate relationship with Nails Inc, love the colours but hate the application and the wear, I agree that these look a bit different though and especially like the Lexington Road, but the Franklin’s Row is pretty good too. Thanks for this. Jan x
Oh these look gorgeous! Thanks for swatching. About a month ago I would have agreed with you about Nails inc but I have been really liking them recently. I wonder if they changed the formulation or something. They seem to wear better and cover better too
Stacie xoxox
They remind me a bit of the Lil Bling nail polishes x x
totally agree with you about nais inc being overpriced and under-performing, i’m yet to find a ails inc polish thats worth the price-tag 🙁 x
Oh i love the middle one! I’ve never been a massive fan of Nails Inc polishes, their colours are FAB but the brush irritates me! Wish they had a chanel-type removable cover instead.
Jo xoxo
I agree with Taffy above, Lexington Road does look a bit like Formidable(though I couldn’t remember the name for the life of me) and the other one…Orly’s Galaxy Girl? Or UD Bruise/Misa Embroidered Emerald, though those are straight-up shimmers. I love that type of colour. =)
Lexington Road is my favorite. Love the metal look. I think I would’ve bought the all!
Ohhh, shiny! I love Franklin’s Row – so pretty, but then I’m a sucker for anything purple!
Symons Street looks like 17 Peacock (one of my summer favourites!). The purples are lovely but I’m not sure they’re worth eleven quid…
