My Face Lil' Bling Gilt-y - Just Nice Things

My Face Lil’ Bling Gilt-y

Read Time:1 Minute, 56 Second

I mentioned the other day that this time of year just makes me crave gold nail varnish. It must be the fact that Christmas is around the corner (there, I said it).

In fact, I have a whole new comparison post planned (yes, I am a sucker for punishment) on gold polishes, as I love them dearly and wanted to have a good root through my collection and try and suss out the best ones for you.

So, you recently had an introduction to My Face Cosmetics’ Lil’ Bling range here. I thought that Sp”ice”y, the first one I reviwed, was going to be my favourite but I have to say that Gilt-y has totally swooped in there. In fact, it is one of the best golds I’ve ever tried.

Gilt-y was a little bit thinner than Sp”ice”y and this was 3  coats. I found that it was a tiny bit brushstrokey although do remember that these photos are macro shots and when I held my hand out at a distance, they looked amazing.

Gilr-y bonds together to give an overall impression of a gorgeous chrome. I know this might not be to everyone’s taste but I like this effect. I actually like the fact that it isn’t a highly polished finish and appears more burnished and dull than some of the mirror-like trends that are around at the moment.

And one thing I really love about this range is just how fast they dry. Three coats was touch dry in less than five minutes (no topcoat) and was hardened in around half an hour. Like I said before, it’s not a quick fix as you do need smooth nails to start with, but once it’s on your nails, it doesn’t take long to dry and stay put.

So what do you think? I have a couple of others of these shades to bring you, but I think they will struggle to be as impressive to me as Gilt-y. I can see me using this all up, as a base for gold glitters, on my toes in the summer, and just on its own.

Lil’ Bling polishes are £5.99 for 15ml and are available exclusively in Boots. This was sent to me for review purposes.

I’m afrais I’m not a fan of this one, too yellow and a bit brush stroke-y for my liking.

I’d love to see the gold comparison post.

I think you have to have the right skin tone to be able to wear gold – and I do not have it. Gold looks horrible on me. But I do like this one and the fact it looks slightly greenish

I LOVE gold nails! There’s something so decadent about them 🙂 And it looks particularly nice on darker skintones (in my opinion anyway!).

Would love to see a comparison of other gold nail polishes xx

I love gold polish and I’m also a goldie for the lead up to Christmas! It looks a lot more substantial than I would have expected for the price. Defo a keeper in my book…

Looking forward to your comparison post. xx

Oh, so sorry but this is really scary. The color is just so difficult to match to a skin tone. Would have to have the exact right type of skin tone for this shade to work and it’s streaky too. Sorry. 🙁

Love that golden glow. Looks sort of green to me. Very pretty!

  7. […] As you may know, I’ve already tested out a couple of these polishes. You can read about Sp”ice”y here and Gilt-y here. […]
