Models Own Gold Finger

Now, this is the sort of gold glitter I was after when I tried out Misa Disco Queen.

I love this polish – it reminds me of blinging sand. I do think perhaps it would look better over a co-ordinating base coat than the red perhaps – you can tell where I was reluctant to work it into my cuticles, and it does look a bit odd. Maybe I should have just stuck with painting it on the end tips rather than the whole nail?

Anyway. This glitter is slightly more sparse than other Models Own ones I have tried. To get the nail coverage as I did, it took three coats (crosses fingers and tries not to think about removal), but it did dry quite fast.  Not too much dinging or bashing as it hardened pretty quicky.

So. This is a gold glitter with a nice silver hint to it, rather than the brassier tones of the Misa. It is pretty, delicate and nicely made. I think this would go with practically any other colour so is effectively a nice way to gild up pretty much any colour.

This is a very welcome addition to my collection. Whilst I might not do an all-over manicure over red, it did give me a good idea for a Christmas manicure. And I think it would look awesome as gold tips over a royal purple….hmmm, inspiration indeed!

  1. I like it better just on the tips than the whole nail but gold tips on purple sounds even better.
Good luck with removal. Models Own are jam-packed with glitter as we all know and look great but it is hell to remove…

  2. I am definitely going to try this again over a purple creme polish I got in Boots the other day.

Oh and as for glitter removal – I’ve cracked it. I soak 2 x cotton wool pads in remover til they are absolutely dripping, then press them hard onto my nails. Leave for 5 mins to soak in, then just push down hard and pull the glitter off in one sweep.
Most of it’ll go then, leaving a bit round the edges to remove. FAR better than all that scrubbing. I’m no longer scared of removing glitters.

  3. This is really neat and looks nice on the tips….I would l think this would look good over many different colors (except anything beige or yellow based). I also think it would look really nice at the tips of a black or very deep blue polish. Lots of possibilities!!

  4. BTW, I bought a Nailtiques Acetone Free nail polish remover and it is FANTASTIC! I think it removes polish as fast, if not faster, than acetone based removers and really does seem to leave the nail less dry and less ‘stripped’. I change my polish at least twice a week and have determined that using acetone based removers is a death knell for nails (in the long run) so I switched over to this. For the price, it is worth it – I think about $6 U.S. dollars for a 6 or 8 oz. bottle.
