Laser Hair Removal with sk:n

Read Time:3 Minute, 28 Second

NEW LPSHair removal is such a pain – in more ways than one. If you’re fed up with shaving and waxing, the long term solution is laser hair removal. As somebody who’s tried it and successfully undergone a course of treatments, laser hair removal is absolutely fantastic. It’s quick, virtually painless and crucially, it works, getting rid of around 80% or more of the hair.

Let’s clear up one thing first though – laser is not the same as IPL (intense pulse light), which merely reduces the appearance of unwanted hair. Laser targets the root of the hairs therefore it is going to be far more effective than IPL which heats the surface of the skin.

I had a total of 6 treatments done on my underarms 7 years ago and in the early years, I experienced about 5-10% hair growth, which I shaved off once a week. They were really just a few random stray hairs and really short. The more treatments you continue to have, eventually what’s left will be killed off.

After 7 years, I have decided to have a ‘top-up’ course for my underarms and I have chosen to go to Sk:n. Although the growth is minimal, it’s become more frequent. I am fed up of shaving every other day and getting razor rash. I want to wear whatever I like and not think about whether or not a top has sleeves.

I’m also going to have laser done on my chin area. I am tired of threading and feel very self-conscious of a few random hairs.

London Procter St ExtNot only is Sk:n experts in laser hair removal, their clinics have medically trained staff on board with the NHS as one of their partners. Sk:n receive quite a few referrals for patients needing laser hair removal treatment. For some individuals, laser hair removal is more than just cosmetics, it can relate to tackling the symptoms from conditions such as Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). And don’t think for a second laser hair removal is just for the ladies. It’s becoming increasingly popular with men.

If you’ve made the decision to go for laser and have chosen Sk:n, you will have a free consultation with a nurse.  You will also have patch test to determine the right laser for your skin type whilst ensuring the highest safety at all times. If you have tattoos on the areas you’d like lasered, then the appropriate laser treatment will be recommended. It’s absolutely important to be up front and honest about your health, how you look after your skin and the importance of wearing SPF.

Laser hair removal can be pricey but when you consider the number of treatments required over a span of several months versus the time and money spent on waxing and shaving, the latter will outweigh the former. I remember my underarms took less than 15 minutes. If I tried it myself with home IPL, I’d be there for a good hour and I would probably miss patches to zap.

The good news is Sk:n is currently offering 40% off when 2 or more courses of laser hair removal is booked or 30% off 1 laser hair course so now is a really good time to take advantage of this discount.

The other great thing is Sk:n has clinics nationwide so there is bound to be one close to you. My nearest one is about 3 miles away with easy parking. Further details can be on their website here: https://www.sknclinics.co.uk/treatments-and-pricing/laser-hair-removal

Don’t forget this special offer is on  until 11th September. Mention me and you will be looked after. 😉

This week I am booked in for my first session on my underarms, with subsequent treatments every six weeks. I also have a patch test for my chin so I will report back on every step of the way on my journey with laser hair removal by Sk:n.

Hey Laura, it depends what area you want to treat with laser. I can cope with leg hair as my growth is slow and sparse but underarms is a nuisance. Thankfully underarms is not as costly and the results are amazing. It is such a relief not to deal with razor bumps particularly when the underarms are so delicate.

What would you be interested in getting done?
