A few weeks ago I was handed a few boxes of what look like telephone cords. Invisibobble* is the new and innovative way to tie your hair up without the hassle of elasticated bands.

They are traceless rings that won’t break your hair or leave identations and kinks unlike a conventional hair band does. They look like quite the novelty but I have to say wearing an Invisibobble has surprised me.

So how does it work? When this hair ring is wrapped around the hair, it places uneven pressure around the circumference of the ponytail. Standard hair rings or bands put even pressure on the hair, which in turn leaves an obvious mark. The uneven pressure produced by the Invisibobble allows hair to be held strongly without pulling at the scalp, so no headaches.

The design of the telephone cord-like ring also ensures the utmost care on your tresses. How many times has your elasticated band caught your hair, forcing you to rip out a few strands?

I’m always wearing my hairband like a bracelet on my wrist though overtime it becomes looser (eventually breaking) but with the Invisibobble just blast it with a hairdryer and it will retract back into its original shape. These are also hygienic as they are sweat and water-proof. I’ve noticed there are cheaper imitations on the market (*cough* Primark *cough*) but I don’t know how they compare. I can take a wild guess and say they won’t be as reliable…

There are clever ways to wear an Invisibobble as shown here (http://invisibobble.com/de/tutorials) but I’m not savvy enough to do any of these, just tying it up in a ponytail is as far as my skills go.

The Invisibobble comes in a box of three in several colours including black, blue, clear and pink and cost £3.75 from Boots, Feel Unique and Urban Outfitters.
