Imagine my shock when I was contacted recently by a TV Producer from the BBC asking me if I wanted to take part in a TV show! And it’s all due to this blog!
Remember a few weeks ago, I wrote about my day at the Thermae Bath Spa? Well, it transpires that the PR people at the spa found my blog and liked it. So when the TV company contacted them to ask them if they could film there, they put them on to me as a potential interviewee.
So, the basis of the programme is not really the coolest thing I’ve ever been involved with…but it’s going to be fun! It is called Great British Train Journeys, and is all about a Victorian chap who wrote the 19th century equivalent of today’s Lonely Planet city guides.
Apparently he spent a lot of time in Bath and wrote extemsively about how good the waters were for his gout and various other ailments. So this TV show is going to be an updated version of his journeys, undertaken and presented by Michael Portillo! (a very famous and rather nortorious Conservative politician for those who don’t know who he is).
I’m going to be interviewed both sitting on a train and also at the spa, talking about how good the water is in Bath and how it improved my skin and so on. And it will be going out on the BBC some time later in the year!
Filming is in about three weeks. I’ve never been someone desperate to get their mug on tv, so I am a bit scared. What do I wear? And (more importantly) what nail polish should I show to the world?? Your advice is greatly needed, dear readers!

OOOh how exciting hope you get a free spa day out of it.
That is so exciting! What a fun thing for you to be a part of. This could be your big step into stardom. First this, then your own TV show…who knows!!!
Hi Helen! That is so exciting, I would be soo nervous lol. I think you should wear something really eye-catching color and/or sparkly wise. Holo, glitter, tons of bling, who knows!
Wow – congratulations! Wear something you love would be my advice, and relax….!
So exciting! I think you should give one of your all-time favourite nail varnishes an outing. Probably nothing too ‘out there’ as you don’t want everyone so distracted by your nails that they’re not listening to your words of wisom…. 😉
I wish I was coming!
I wish you were coming too 🙁
I guess you can take small solace in the fact that you don’t have a skin disorder though.
And we will definitely get to the spa over the summer anyway.
I think you are right. Better not go for anything too dark or green in case my public think I have fungal nail “issues” as well as the psoriasis.
Thanks Cali!
Oooh holo – what a great idea! Good plan!
Haha well, I am comforted by the fact that even if I make a total idiot of myself at least it’ll only be in front of the train-spotting viewers 😉
Me too! Fingers crossed.
THat’s super cool! Have Fun!
Wow! How cool is that! Wear one of your favorite polishes. You’ll do great, and you’ll pick that perfect polish too!
I had looked up the train fares too – cheapest was working out at £26 return. 🙁
Thanks Kitty! 🙂
Aww thankyou Velvet – I hope so! I’m liking Kae’s idea of a holo. Why not, eh?
Email me tomorrow with a Friday/Monday you can get off work in July/Aug and we’ll make a day of it. Better to do a weekday as it may not be so busy.
I was going to recommend a holo, too! Whichever one you like. And/or (maybe it’s the same thing, maybe it’s not) wear a colour that makes you feel powerful and sexy and all of that – it’ll help you feel more confident in front of the camera, I predict.
As for the clothes, you’re on your own!
Yay. Holo it is! I think you are absolutely right.
I’m late!!!
CONGRATS!! I got really excited at first thinking it was nail polish related, shucks!!
Still, how cool is that! Hopefully it will be on youtube or on a website we can watch and ohhh and ahhh over the big star we know!! 🙂
How wonderful for you. Don’t get too shriveled up! Nothing green or black or you might look like your rotting. I’m sure you’ll end up on youtube. I pray you do cause I want to see that. I think it was Michael Palin that did a show like that. Oh I’d love to see it! You’ll do so good. Maybe you’ll be such a hit they’ll send you round to other spas to do some reporting. I know your good so now others on the telly will.
LOL Lucy – I definitely don’t want to look like I’m rotting! ha!
Also, Brooke/Lucy, it is highly likely it’ll be on this thing called I-Player on the BBC website. I’ll let you know once it’s all filmed and screened and I’ll post the link – as long as I don’t look like an utter goon.

My dad may be one of those viewers, I’ll have to check through the contents of his recorder…
