Well this is exciting – a splash of bright and bold colours from Illamasqua heralding the new summer collection, To Be Alive. But you will have to wait till 1st May to have it within your clutches. Until then I am going to whip you up into a frenzy over it.
One colour dominates this small, capsule collection and I am so pleased that it’s blue. I think it’s a bit of a forbidden shade with many afraid to approach it but seeing it in all its glory in this new collection has reminded me how much I miss this colour and how much I need to pop some of it on my eyelids.
Vendetta* is a new addition to the Glamore lipstick range (£18.50.) Colour-intense and barmy electric blue, it is extremely inviting though obviously only the hardcore lippy lovers will want this. The Glamore formula is so much kinder on the lips than the matte finish. It doesn’t drag (I ended up breaking a few bullets with the matte ones) and it keeps your pout moisturised thanks to the hydrating vitamin E.
Meanwhile a new shine lipgloss in Iridesce* (£18) and nail varnish in Prismatic (£14.50) will lure in the cautious ones but also tickle the unicorn princesses out there (definitely the queen of iridescent, Fashioncide!). The lipgloss is very flattering, and can be worn on its own or patted on a lip colour of your choice to add definition and the varnish is a gorgeous, two-tone effect baby blue and it smells hypnotically delicious.
I sense a return to Illamasqua’s roots with the elaborate move to make blue the focal point of this collection. Spirit and Vendetta will send the waves of neutrals crashing. Well, it’s about time the colour clashing tribe took something back.
I’m ready to wear this in public, something I’ve never thought about doing before. Leanne did when we went for sushi recently and nobody batted an eyelid.
So what are your thoughts? If you’re excited then bookmark 1st May in your calendar. It’ll be here before you know it. To sign up for news and notifications on To Be Alive, visit www.illamasqua.com.
