Prism was definitely the nail varnish I was most excited about from the promotional snaps of the new Body Electrics collection from Illamasqua. I’m
a bit of a sucker for an iridescent shimmer and this one is no exception!
Prism is designed to be a sheer and shimmery topcoat so anyone expecting an opaque polish is going to be disappointed. It’s hard, as a blogger, to get into layering sometimes as you end up having to take twice as many photos, a kind of before and after, if you will.
I decided that seeing as Prism is a white toned shimmer, I wanted to try it over a white shade base colour. Step forward OPI Alpine Snow, my traditional white creme of choice. Two coats of that, followed by three coats of Prism, and I had a stunningly beautiful manicure.
A stunningly beautiful manicure maybe, but not stunningly beautiful photos. Prism is a devil to photograph. It’s that blue flash it has – through the
lens of a camera it seems it is there one minute and gone the next. Thankfully, on the nail it is a lot more obvious. It has a kind of pearl-like lustre to it.
I think this topcoat will go beautifully over any number of different bases. Naturally it is designed to compliment the nail varnishes from the collection, but I also can’t wait to add a blue flash of Prism to a hot pink, or to see how it fares over black.
If you want to see how Prism looks over a naked nail then do check out Mizz Worthy ‘s swatches here.
I can feel that Prism may already be in the “back-up worthy” gang. I can see
this being used as a quick way to jazz up an existing manicure, or used alone as a once over to give nails a pretty but subtle look. As I hope you can tell from the close-up, it really glows. beautiful.
Prism was sent to me for review by Illamasqua. You can purchase it, and see the rest of the Body Electrics range here.
I showed you a few of the promotional shots for Body Electrics the other day. Now here are the rest of them – boundary pushing and utterly beautiful I am sure you’ll agree.

The bottle looks nearly empty! Lancome did a brilliant duo ages ago with a layering polish just like this. A black and the polish (looked very like this) made an amazing iridiscent dark/mid blue.
There’s nothing new under the sun.
Again I say. £13 is too much.
if i do some layering swatches- i like to alter the nails i.e. layer- layer polish only- layer- layer polish only… that way I don’t have to take as much pics and have a comparison for the original colour
Jennie my god that Lancome one was many many many years ago. I had that and the black and white eyeshadow that mixed into green!
Your nails are looking gorgeous. That is really pretty on your nails. I can just imagine how lovely it will look over other shades of polish.
I can confirm that it does look AMAZING over hot pink. 😀
