GOSH Purple Heart - Just Nice Things

GOSH Purple Heart

Read Time:1 Minute, 40 Second

Purple Heart is one of the GOSH polishes that I have always admired from afar, and never bought. I say admired from afar, as because, as you now know, I don’t like to get tooo near to the GOSH stand in my local Superdrug for fear of catching something.

So, thanks to Britny, who alterted GOSH to the plight of their poor products, GOSH head office were kind enough to send me some polishes to review. Purple Heart was the one I was keen to break out as soon as I received it as I was really excited to see if it lives up to the promise of the bottle.

And do you know what? It does. Although I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as “purple”. This is a classic duochrome, along the lines of Nubar’s  Peacock Feathers, although slightly less blue.

Purple Heart actually leans very more to the green side. In “resting” light, (for want iof a better phrase), it is a striking dark and blackened purple, but as soon as you move your hand and it catches the light, you get a very strong green flash. But a dark, dingy green. This isn’t one for lovers of bright shades I am afraid.

I did my best to capture this look for you here but I find duochromes very tricky to photograph. I hope you get the effect though. It can appear dark purple in the centre and green around the edges as well – really unusual and different to anything I have tried before.

Application was great. It was really nice to have a bottle that hadn’t been opened a million times, and wasn’t sticky from sellotape and alarm codes.  This is two coats and it covered beautifully with no dragging, bald spots or issues. Happy days.

So, I’d like to thank Britny for actually contacting GOSH on our behalf, and GOSH themselves for sending me this to try out.

GOSH polishes retail at £5.00, and are available from Superdrug. If you dare.

This one is really nice on you Helen. A good transitional season colour I think!

Quick (slightly unrelated) question – I’m finding more and more lately that Seche Vite scratches off really easily, does anyone else have this problem? Can someone recommend a quick drying, high shine topcast that won’t do this please?

Peacock Feathers is what I thought of instantly when I saw your nails. Looks gorgeous on you. I sure wouldn’t call this purple either. This needs a better name.

    Wow. Super-wow. What a polish!
    Quick dry topcoat?
I like Misa (for everything including TC) and my Speed Demon from Sally’s is brilliant. Big bottle, slop it on in one go, not expensive. It does the trick for me, I can assure you.
Tell you another great product – China Glaze Fast Freeze. It doesn’t seem to be recommended much (nor does Speed Demon) but I swear by it.

I love this colour bought it just before Christmas and yes it reminded me of Peacock Feathers bu less blue.

    Thankyou!

Oh I love Nubar Diamont. It’s got less chemicals in than Seche Vite and dries just as fast.

Yes, it does need a better name. Lovely polish though.

I don’t know any of those topcoats – brilliant, thankyou Jen. I shall keep an eye out.

I asked for this one as you recommended it! It’s lovely but yes, very similar to Peacock Feathers.

Oh, this is so pretty! I want this one myself, but I think of all the swatches I’ve seen of Gosh polish, the one I want the most is Gasoline. I can’t get it out of my head. The Mystery Night one that Maria sent me is a stunner too. I really liked it!
I really am not fond of Seche Vite myself, too many problems. I just got Out The Door and I’m testing it, as I’ve heard a million recommendations for it, but I have been using CND Air Dry for about three or four months and I LOVE it.

I have heard amazing things about CND but they won’t ship to the UK 🙁

I have Gasoline to review – and the holo with the basecoat. On the way!
