So, as your summer tan begins to fade, but you aren’t quite ready to be pale and interesting as yet, what happens next? The bathroom is too chilly to be slapping on fake tan, and you got bored of applying tan maintainer a long time ago. There’s only one thing for it… apply some bronzer! This is a great invention, as it gives you a warm glow on your face without a) the sun damage, or b) having to strip to your smalls to paint yourself brown.
A month or so ago, GOSH launched a new bronzer. Now I have a lot of time for GOSH products as their nail polishes are always a hit with me, I have a fair few of the eyeshadows, and if I could only get my mitts on their perenially sold-out liners then I’d be a happy blogger indeed. Sadly, I’m not as enamoured of the bronzer as perhaps I should be.
Look. It’s coated in yellow glitter. Absolutely covered in it. I know this is meant to be used all over the body to give something of a glow, but seriously? It reminds me of that episode of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding where a well-meaning relative was spraying the bride (or was it the little girl being confirmed?) with glitter spray as she walked down the aisle.
Normally I whinge about overspray for all the wrong reasons, ie a product looks exciting and then it turns out to be a let-down, but in this case I really think it is unnecessary. It gets everywhere, even after giving it a good dusting down with a large brush. Pesky. I can still see it all over the chair I sit in to do my make-up.
I scraped some of the glitter away and actually discovered a rather nice, matte, pigmented bronzer. I like the different stripes and they mix together nicely, or can be used separately to offer a differentiation in colour tones. The white, in particular, makes for a really nice highlighter.
So maybe it is better used on the body than on the face. You know me, I like a bit of glitter as much as the next magpie, but this is just too much. Teenage girls will go mad for it, but someone seeking a more work-appropriate glow might be better off looking elsewhere.
