It was in March last year when I walked through the doors of The Chapel. Not only did this salon transform my hair to suit MY needs but I also made friends with chief colourist Billie and stylist director Georgia.
I have no regrets ditching my old salon for The Chapel. I thought I was happy before I met Billie and Georgia but little did I know how controlled I was and how accepting I had become. When I think about how much of my hard earned money I shelled out, it seemed unfair to be dictated what I can and cannot have done to my hair. So let that be a lesson to you if ever you feel unhappy with how your hair is looked after. It may be time to look elsewhere…
Any way, I thought I’d do a post on the journey my barnet has taken over the last 18 months with The Chapel…

This cut knocked me for six – the transformation was incredible. In fact it’s my absolute favourite from Billie and Georgia. A thick, blunt fringe (something previous stylists advised me against!) and the colours Billie picked for my highlights were gorgeous! Look at those reds and browns! Sigh. I miss this one so much.

I loved my previous style so much that I asked for it again. This time I was given red highlights mixed with my natural colour. I was also growing my layers out so my hair could be one equal length. I know hairdressers like layers as they make hair look thicker but it’s a bitch when you try to curl hair as the layers are all uneven.

Georgia decided to do experimented with a different fringe cut and a shorter length at the back while Billie opted for a block colour…

Purple hair! I asked Billie to surprise me so she kept it a surprise till I sat in front of the mirror and she whipped the towel off my damp hair. Scream! I did not expect such an incredible colour and it was perfect for Halloween too (the above was for the Illamasqua masquerade Halloween ball) but I did not keep it come my next salon visit because it was extremely high maintenance. I had to colour the section with a semi-permanent dye every week as it faded with every wash, which became tedious not to mention I could not do it with the same precision as a professional. Well, it was nice while it lasted…

Back to a normal colour with warm, brown highlights and with a shorter cut and sharper fringe. Loved this one too!

Then onto a asymmetrical fringe…

Cropped shorter (again) but because the ends had become wispy and long. I want to grow my hair long again though on this occasion a cut was needed to make the hair look healthy. My hair has suffered as a consequence of medication so it does sadden me to notice how much I’ve lost. Georgia has been great at making me barnet look decent under those circumstances and of course health is far more important. The good news is my hair is growing back stronger and thicker so I am looking forward to what Billie and Georgia will do with it next month. Thank you, ladies.
And there you have it…I wonder what changes my hair will go through in a year’s time. One thing for sure is, it will never look the same every time.

You are so daring with your hair. I’m game for wild colours but I’m very conservative with cuts.
I still miss my Newcastle hairdresser she is the only one that was really on my wavelength and my hair was at its best with her.
If you’re having volume issues I can recommend Samy Fat Hair products. They’ve got me through stress-related hair loss and the lankness caused by washing with soft water since moving up North.
Thanks, LiseyDuck. I will look into those products. x
Ha Britny! I wish I could be more daring. I’d love to go shorter but am really scared it will be a big mistake.
Thank you so much for this lovely piece. We would welcome any of your followers to come in for a complimentary consultation in any of our salons. x
I really enjoyed reading this, Sheenie. You are so lucky with your hair, a bob or asymetrical fringe are things that I can only dream of due to having narurally curly, frizzy hair! Nice to see someone having fun with their hair and doing something differemt, is anyone else sick of the sight of ombre etc?
Andrea, thank you – glad you enjoyed the post. I wish I had naturally curly hair, mind. The way I see it, you get the best of both worlds (assuming it’s easy to control the frizz!)
