Getting to know… Glossy Box

Read Time:1 Minute, 50 Second

Regular readers of blogs and Twitter will know that beauty addicts have recently been getting very excited about the launch of Glossy Box in the UK. Based on a very successful business model that has been going in Germany for some time, Glossy Box promises monthly deliveries of a range of current beauty products.

For £10 a month, subscribers can fill in an online profile about skin type, colour and preference, and then once a month, a box containing four or five beauty products that fit your profile will arrive at your front door. We’re not talking magazine-sized samples here either, more like travel-sized items.

Having said that, this month’s box contained a full size Nars Orgasm illuminator cream (usually retailing at £23) and a full sized All For Eve lipstick (£10.50). The box also contained some products that were not such household names, such as Bionova Lab cleanser, Alterna Caviar finishing spray, and  COMO Shambhala body lotion, all of which I’m excited to try out. Not a bad return on your investment, hey? I’ll be interested to see what the boxes contain next month though and whether the standard will be as high. No pressure then!

The boxes arrive beautifully presented and certainly created a buzz amongst the ladies in my office, with a couple of them signing up straight away.  Delivery is included in your £10 per month fee. There is no minimum order and you can cancel your subscription at any time, and your card will  not be charged until your product is despatched each month.

Someone was very interested in the Glossy Box

Unlike previous mail order beauty boxes, you get to keep everything that is sent to you. OK, so you don’t know what you’re going to get, and not everything is going to work for you, but for £10 a month it’s a little taste of luxury and the fun of a surprise parcel that will do wonders to lift your spirits.

I like the idea of this and am not put off by the worry that maybe next time it will be filled with high street rather than high end, but too many products too little time, I know that it will just sit gathering dust in the corner along with the twenty trillion other products I have purchased along the way! Might be worthwhile mentioning that the company not set up to use either Paypal or Maestro yet you can only join if you use a credit card. June is already oversubscribed so next delivery would be mid July. Interesting concept.

I read this in one of the other UK beauty blogs. Very nice products. Would love the Orgasm Illuminator!

Do they accept only credit card? What about debit card?

This is the most amazingly timed post! I spent all day yesterday googling for a UK version of BeautyFix and failed. Signing up RIGHT NOW!

When I was a teenager there was a company that sent out boxes of beauty products. Some drugstore and some department store brands. I looked forward to these boxes! So muuch fun to get. I noticed some boxes people on YouTube were getting. Not as cheap as when I was a kid but still a great price! Just what I need, more makeup!

I live in Germany and am now signed up to this and another tone called boo box (German for ‘combo box!)

Looking at the contents of the first boo box in March compared to the three since was as I suspected. The first one was FANTASTIC. Kiehls moisturizer, penhaligon’s perfume, laura mercier powder, to name but three of the five totally fab things. Since then though I don’t know. June seems to be mostly tanning towellettes and the desirability factor is certainly down for me.

While I don’t think these wil ever just be filled with high street I do think more strange brands/useless products, and things like individual wipes rather than a decent size ample will creep in. I wait with everyone else to find out the truth!
