So, there was a reason for me re-posting Dior’s Lemon Balm the other day. Not to torture you, I promise, but to show you that Dior have actually come out with something relatively similar. Yippee – about time, eh?
I have heard rumours that Dior are discontinuing their entire existing nail varnish line and replacing them with new ones that have a better, flatter brush, and an improved formula. Let’s overlook the fact that the price has been bumped up to £17 for 10ml, and take a look at what I think is one of their best offerings.
Aztec Chocolate has quickly been promoted to one of my favourite brown shades of all time. It is absolutely stunning, and really not that different from the much-coveted Lemon Balm. They aren’t dupes but they are close enough.
Aztec Chocolate applied beautifully. I like the new Dior brush. It’s small but perfectly formed. J’adore a flat brush anyway – it works better for my long nails. The consistency was thick but not unmanageable, and this was a perfect manicure in two coats. No dragging or pooling and very limited clean-up.
Also – this lasted for four days on me (with INM topcoat). I am so used to Chanels lasting one day that I was surprised and pleased about the wear of this. I could have gone longer actually but to my eye, it was starting to look a little tired.
The base of this is purple, which is what reminded me of Lemon Balm, although on the nail it leans much more towards brown. But what really sets Aztec Chocolate apart from the crowd is the shimmer. Glorious golden shimmer that sits perfectly on the surface and is apparent in any light, not just under a spotlight. It is utter perfection.
Brown is one of my all time favourite shades anyway, and this may well have placed itself at Number One. High praise indeed. And do I regret spending £17 on this? Not one little bit.
What do you think? Are you hungry for a bit of Aztec Chocolate?

Oooh that looks gorgeous!!
OOOOH i really likey
Looks absolutely yummy on you. It’s a gorgeous brown. I always am crazy about a polish with gold shimmer in it. I am very tempted by this one. I do have Lemon Balm but this is even more delicious.
This is top of my Christmas list, I absolutely love it xx
What a gorgeous colour! Looks great on you x
Stunning! I think you’ve just cost me £17.00. It does frustrate me when you only get 10ml for that amount, but this one looks to be worth it.
