Oh, you lucky, lucky UK readers. For a while now, the blogosphere has been a-buzz with love for Diamond Cosmetics and us Brits were sadly looking on in envy. I was lucky enough to have been sent some in a swap with Kitty. But now, we can finally get in on the action!
The lovely Jennifer of the fab blog Flashy Nails has struck up a deal with Diamond Cosmetics to import their amazing polishes and sell them here to you, the lovely British nail addict! You can purchase them direct from Jennifer’s shop, which can be found here. She also sells nail art supplies and Konad equipment. Also, if you order in the next fortnight, you’ll get 10% off, at £2.70 per polish. And trust me, this is a bargain. Oh, and the swatches on Jennifer’s shop are perfect.
So, onto the polish. Diamond have only just released a range of matte shades, and I am honoured to be one of the first bloggers to try this out, courtesy of Jennifer.
Application of this was wonderful. One coat, totally opaque and dry in seconds. The sheen you see in the photos is from my overhead lighting (it is getting dark so early now) so trust me, this is as matte as matte can be.
Compared to the other mattes I have tried – Zoya Loredana and Nubar Prevail, Matte Smoke is incredibly smooth to the touch. It doesn’t have the mottled, suede-y effect of the others.
A solid
block of colour, Matte Smoke is neither grey nor green, more a great combination of the two.
I like it – it is grungy and totally different to anything I have. I also think (although this totally defeats the object of matte polish) that this would look great with a shiny topcoat as well. Dual purpose!
So there we go. What do you think ladies? Are any more of you getting on board with matte polish?
Even if you aren’t, you should head over to Jennifer’s shop and check out the Diamond polishes – she has a great range and they really are interesting and unique shades – hit the Diamond tag on the right to have a reminder of the other ones I’ve reviewed so far. And Jennifer, thank you so much for sending me this to try out!

Love it….love mattes and cremes…..much more than all the bling that’s about! Fab! Just off to do my own nails right now, got a new consignment of Mr Denny’s finest *hangs head in shame* I really don’t need to add to my collection but I am easily swayed by the pretty colours lol
Thank you so much for the wonderful post on Matte Smoke Helen!! 😀
I love this shade on you! This looks magnificant on you. It’s nice that you are able to buy these. I am loving these greys. I really like this brand of polish. They have nice colors and they’re a very reasonable.
That’s awesome that Diamond is available in the UK now! It’s such a great product!!
Not liking that looks like army land rover colour 🙁
I’d love to see a photo of your Leighton Denny collection! I’m still only on two and I still have to review the Chocoholic one – I’m not as keen on it as I first thought.
Jennifer, you’re welcome! And thankyou for sending me the samples. I’ll be trying out Never So Ever Green this week too 🙂
Thanks Lucy. I like it as it is a totally unique shade and it is a smoother matte than I have tried so far. And yes, Diamond polishes are an utter bargain!
I’m so happy. Except it has come at totally the wrong time for my no-buy plans!
I can see that! I know it might not be to everyone’s taste but the rest of the range is gorgeous – you should take a look 🙂
