Japan’s number one skincare brand, DHC, recently released two new products to add to its arsenal. The first under the spotlight is the Astaxanthin Collagen All-in-One Gel*.
Housed in a big and bright orange pot, the Astaxanthin Collagen All-in-One Gel is more of a thick (orange tinted) cream than a gel. Loaded with super antioxidant astaxanthin, a vitamin-like substance considered 6000 times more powerful than vitamin C, this multi-action gel cream absorbs deeply and quickly to moisturise and nourish skin, helping to tone, hydrate and brighten while fighting free radical damage. Further more, additional ingredients collagen and elastin firm and hyaluronic acid helps skin maintain its natural moisture barrier. It’s also suitable for sensitive skin.
So what’s Astaxanthin? More to the point, who thinks up these long and winding names? Well in answer to my first question, it’s a potent antioxidant derived from freshwater green algae. In layman’s terms, it’s what gives salmon and flamingoes their pinkish hue and it also protects these animals from the sun’s rays so it should do the same for human skin.
I love the texture of the cream. A little bit goes a long way and I always find the thicker a cream, the more likely it is to be effective. As a result of using this, my skin feels and looks smoother and brighter. There is still so much product left in the pot that I feel this is going to last me all year – you definitely get a lot for your buck here.
The second product I’ve been trialling from DHC is the Beauty Lift Eye Care Essence Roll-On*, a soothing, massaging eye treatment with oat kernel extract to firm and smooth the under-eye area.
To release product, one click from the pen-like tube delivers the right amount for one application so no excess product or waste plus it’s hygienic and prolongs the life of the light fluid serum.
The massaging metal beads feels so blissful – cooling and applying the right amount of pressure as they gently stimulate the delicate skin around the eye while delivering a high concentration of active lifting ingredients mevalonolactone, ceramide 3, and pentapeptide-18 to hydrate and lift. The under-eye area immediately feels refreshed and hydrated, so it’s great to use on puffy eyes. It’s also gentle enough to use twice a day and the handy size makes it so travel-friendly.
