Released as part of China Glaze’s Metro collection for Autumn Winter this year, Skyscraper is a steely blue jelly flecked with even silver glitter. I’ve read many blogs saying how marvellous it is, and I have to hop on the bandwagon. This is
a glorious polish.
Mid-toned blue, not quite royal and too light to be navy, it is a really special shade. The silver is merged evenly and distributes perfectly on the nail without overpowering the blue base. It is quite thick and two coats gave ample coverage. The polish round the neck of the bottle did gloop up after it had been open for a while, so I suspect this might need thinning after a little while.
Bearing in mind how glittery this polish is, it is really very smooth. One coat of CND Air Dry and it was perfectly smooth. Impressive. Sadly, the wear wasn’t quite as good. For some reason, this just fell off one of my thumbnails and I had some obvious tipwear on the rest of my nails by the end of day three. It was easy enough to patch up, but I was hoping it might last a bit longer than it did.
This post has taken me hours to finish. I started writing this just before the 9/11 memorial service started and then didn’t really feel like blogging, obviously. I didn’t even deliberately wear Skyscraper as a tribute or anything like that – I’ve been wearing it for a couple of days now and only just thought of the connection. Ten years on and the coverage is just as raw and devastating as it was on the day it happened. I didn’t lose anyone in the tragedy but I remember the day, and the subsequent devastation all too clearly, and feel terribly sad and moved watching the memorial service today.

This is a stunner! I was surprised at how smooth it dried as well.
I had a hard time with the memorials, it was indeed just as raw for me as if it had just happened.
I’m so glad I have this polish! It is stunning! =)
This is a beauty of a polish. I have this on the top of my list to buy. Looks gorgeous on you. When my nails get longer I will be wearing some glitter. The memorial services were so beautiful. The reflecting pool where the World Trade Center was is fantastic. You would think after 10 years it would be easier but it’s not. Thank God I didn’t lose anyone but almost. My cousin was working at the Pentagon and he escaped without injury. Very close call.
