I’m really, really wishing I had some disposable income right now. If I did, the the first thing I would be doing would be booking some flights (and a hotel, of course) to New York. I’ve been twice now, once as a reward at work for hitting a massive sales target, and the second time as a surprise from my lovely husband for my 30th birthday. And I want to go back again! There’s something about New York in the winter, when the Christmas lights are in the shops and everyone is hurrying around in their furry boots. It just makes me feel like I’m on the set of a film.
Anyway. Enough of my wishful thinking and more about some nail varnish. Midtown Magic is another one of China Glaze’s Metro collection that was
realeased for Autumn/Winter this year. This is the one that most of the bloggers I read raved about more than any other. I couldn’t really work out what was so special about it even though I kept reading that it was wonderful so it was time to test it out for myself.
This is a deep brown jelly that leans towards black rather than red. It applies beautifully and was opaque in one coat. I did another one though, just to make sure. On the nail it looks like a shimmery, nicely lit brown shade. I was told though that I needed to get it in artificial or sun light though to really see the “magic”.
And yes, then it happened. This is absolutely fantastic when the light shines on it. You can see yellow, red, copper and gold flashes of shimmer that are suspended perfectly within the base. It’s really beautiful. It reminds me strongly of a more golden version of OPI’s Tease-y Does It from OPI’s Burlesque collection of last winter. Apologies for the tipwear, by the awy, but it took me a couple of days to get round to photographing this.
What do you think? I totally understand the other bloggers’ appreciation for this shade now – it’s pretty special. Now, anyone want to treat me to a trip to New York?
