Apologies to reader Jen who stated the other day that she was bored of dark colours and things layered over black. But I did this manicure before her comment! Actually, I rather like it.

iridescentpink1I was pottering about in Superdrug the other day looking at GOSH polishes and I always give the Barry Ms a cursory glance on the off-chance that some of the more exciting shades from the website actually make it into the shop. Imagine my surprise when I saw this one innocently lurking on the shelf.

Pink Iridescent is a limited edition Barry M (perhaps why I hadn’t seen it before). It is a glitter polish in a very light pink jelly base. It would be pretty impossible to build this up on it’s own as it is so sheer. Obviouslyiridescentpink2 you have it here over a dark shade, but I painted a friend’s nails with just the glitter. It was very pretty and identical to the bottle colour. Just sheer. Reminded me of the type of polish I wore as a little girl.

The glitter is predominantly orange, light blue, and (unsurprisingly), pink.

It placed perfectly and took two coats to really look good. However, despite the fact that the particles are small, it did feel really gritty on the nail and needed a good and thick layer of topcoat to smooth out the roughness.

It’s not quite as dramatic  a glitter as Models Own Mixed Up, but I like this as iridescentpink3the light pink jelly base means it could be used over any coloured polish, or as I said, on its own for a more subtle “fairy bling” type effect. I’ll return to this when my nails are in better nick and ok to demonstrate sheer polishes. In the meantime, you can buy Barry M for £2.98 in Superdrug and Boots and on Amazon for £2.85 + P&P.

  1. Unrelated, sorry, but does anyone order from Beverly Beaute? I have done in the past and it was great, but I’ve been trying to get on their website for a week now. Any idea what’s going on?? I’ll be devestated if I can’t order from there anymore!

  2. Well, I’ve got Diamond Mystical Knights as a base on all my nails today. it is showing virtually black. Then L’Oreal Galactica over the middle finger. OK. Models Own Bluebelle over the index. Good!!! Mixed Up over thumbs. OK. And NYC Starry (er, can’t properly remember but a glitter with big pink and blue bits) over little fingers available from Superdrug. Good!

In the dark evenings the Bluebelle is interesting. I am thinking of swapping the Galactica as it is not as flash as I had hoped.

Like the idea of the Barry M Pink over coral or red or something.

  3. Like that layering. Very pretty. Love all the sparkly bits. I usually wear mostly dark colors in the Fall and Winter. I guess you’ll have to do something special for Jen.

  4. Hmmmm I have no idea. I don’t think I ever ordered from them – my favourite when I was building my stash was SlapItOn (link on the right).

Has it improved over the last couple of days? Sorry, I am late to commenting.

  5. That sounds amazing!! I live the idea of glitter skittles! I must write about Bluebelle this week so that the people who have entered the contest can see what they are competing for!
