Barry M Mushroom - Just Nice Things

Barry M Mushroom

Read Time:1 Minute, 50 Second

Let me tell you a secret. I never used to like mushrooms. Seriously, I could not be in the same room as one, let alone give them plate-room. I have a friend who suffers from the same thing, except whereas I really didn’t like the taste, she can’t eat them as she thinks that the underside of a mushroom looks like a set of eyelashes. Gross!

Any way, something must have happened to my tastebuds as now I just can’t get enough. My husband started inserting mushrooms into our dinners and I couldn’t be bothered to complain any more so I ended up eating them. And discovering that actually, they are rather tasty. Didn’t stop 99% (or so it felt at the time) of our wedding guests complaining when they found out that our meal was steak with mushrooms. Seems they’re still a bit contraversial.

This nail varnish is not controversial though. It’s quite simply amazing. I was quite late to it, and I know its been raved about on a number of blogs prior to this one, but it does no harm at all to remind you of just how good it is. This could have been one coat, but I did two just for maximum opacity.

This is hands-down the best formula I have ever tried from Barry M. It flowed perfectly with zero pooling, dragging or problems. I actually ended up doing one coat and getting distracted with something before going back to do the second and my topcoat, and I found that the first coat I applied was dry in about five minutes. Perfect.

Better yet, I can barely tell the difference between this, and last year’s hot property Chanel Particuliere. Except that Particuliere cost £19 and chipped like a bitch. Barry M costs under £3.00 and wears like iron. It’s a no-brainer as far as I am concerned – I’d rather have six bottles of the Barry M that, in my opinion, outperforms the Chanel in every possible way.

So there we have it. Are you a fan of this shade? And tell me, are there any foods that you used to hate that you now love to eat?

Helen

Oh I LOVE this. One of the best browns out there.

Looks good! I keep eyeing it up in boots so really should snap it up. You said that it’s close to the Chanel particular ( sorry not sure if I’m spelling ghat right!), have you seen the parodoxal dupe post on lacquerizeds blog? Barry m dusky mauve is identical with the hidden shimmer too! Rather pay £2.95 🙂

I love this too. I have this and I have particuliere and everything you said is spot on. Chanel polishes are terrible for chipping (doesn’t stop me paying for them though *ahem*)
they should be embarrassed that Barry M keep bringing out dupes that outperform their offerings every time xx

In the bottle, this looks pretty similar to 17 Tiger’s Eye – my eventual selection was largely down to 17 being the brand on special offer at the time! In your photos it looks a bit darker, so maybe I’d be able to justify having both.. 😉

I love ‘Mushroom’ too, but have to find opportunities to wear it since whenever my bf see it he’s all ‘What is that colour? That’s not a nail colour.’ and spends the next 10 minutes talking about why it ‘isn’t a nail colour’ haha. I hate mushrooms, the smell makes me gag :/

Now this is very lovely, currently I am sporting OPI Show it and Glow it so of course am drawn to a slightly more sophisticated look. Had to laugh about the mushrooms, my eldest son meticulously picks every one out of any dish that we have them in, I love them myself although your comment about your friend saying that the inside looks like eyelashes did make me baulk a little! Thanks for the post and pics. Jan x

Lol people always find something to complain about at weddings! I love this colour. Barry M polishes are so much better than so many more expensive ones!

I used to hate mussels but tried them recently and now can’t get enough! They have to be really well cooked though or I won’t eat them x

Speaking of weddings! Where’s the pictures? I love steak with mushrooms. Yummy. There an area of Pennsylvania where mushrooms are grown and it smells terrible driving through the area. Even with the windows closed! Well this shade is really gorgeous. I have to add this to my list. They are such a reasonable price but it’s the shipping that kills you. Guess you have the same problem with polishes here. Really a gorgeous shade on you.

I love this colour, I wear it all the time and not even a nail polish person!
