How many of us actually leave the house without make-up?

I know it’s an old cliche….but still. I have a few friends who have never really bought in to wearing make-up and so only ever put it on for special occasions. Weirdos ;0)

Usually I try and have a rest from it on a Sunday as I’m just pottering about the house and can’t really be bothered.

However, I may have to change my mind. Yesterday I was in Sainsbury’s with hair like the wild woman of Borneo and zero make-up on. Don’t fret, I didn’t run into an ex-boyfriend with his ravishing new girlfriend or anything. But I did bump into a friend of mine who had a baby about two months ago. Despite the sleepless nights and change of priorities, she looked FABULOUS. She was always gorgeous anyway <Hi Rachael!> but any passer-by would have thought I was the one who’d just given birth and totally let myself go.

I always wear make-up for work, and if I’m going out. Now I’ve started worrying that that’s not enough. I always mocked women who wouldn’t go to the corner shop without a full face of slap and perfectly groomed hair, but now I kind of see their point.

Oh well – at least I wasn’t wearing tracksuit bottoms. And my nails looked nice.

  1. The day I went out in public with no make-up was when my beautician told me I didn’t need to wear any. If I can face her (excuse the pun) with not a splodge on (and bear in mind she scrutinizes skin so much – that’s her living), I can go without in front of any one. To be honest, I enjoy having make-up free days and I am pleased my skin is allowed to breathe but I do like to make an effort if there’s an occasion for it. If you can cut down, it saves you time and your skin will thank you for it.

  2. At the grand old age of 32 i have just started wearing make-up!!

My friend works on a counter and she helped me pick and choose.
Up until now i have only worn Mascarra when i go out and only Mascarra and lipgloss on my wedding day.

But with a disabled child and the dreaded P skin problems i look tired and washed out.
I wont wear it everyday, but i do find myself going for tinted Nivia Cream to perk me up and i must say, althought i still feel tired and washed out, i do look better for it!! :o)

  3. I wear make up when I go to an event of night out, that’s it. I could never be bothered to put on make up to go to work, to the shop etc would be too many hours of life wasted.
