OK, so here we have a little experiment. 2True 39 is one of the polishes I was sent by the nice people at Superdrug.
This is a very straightforward black polish. One coat and it was perfectly opaque. Smooth, shiny, and an absolute snip for under £2.00. This is an ideal polish for any of you looking to grab a black polish for Halloween but not wanting to spend a fortune.
But, nice as the
black was, I was a bit bored with it, so I decided to do something I’d been thinking about for a while.
I added some Illamasqua pure pigment to the tips. It was a bit annoying and took a while as I kind of flicked it on with a cotton bud and layered it a bit more thickly at the ends.
I was inspired to do this when taking out my pot of the new Static eyeshadow as on first appearance, this looks white – as you can see here:
But then when you take the lid off, you can see all the pink that this shadow is absolutely jam packed with:
Hard to tell that it’s the same stuff, isn’t it?
But there you go. So I wanted to replicate the pink on black effect with my nails. I think it worked ok although I have to say, it would have been easier to do with glitter, but I am pleased with the effect. What do you reckon?

Very pretty. Would applying it with a brush have helped?
This is really pretty. I love the look . Looks like a sugured candy. I love how Illamasaqua pigments are in those jars. I wish MAC would put their pigments in jars like these. I only have 2 jars of pigment and I always knock some over. Have a nice weekend sweetie.
Wow! Very creative. I was surprised that it was eye shadow on the tips of your nails. On first glance, I thought it was some kind of polish. Cool! It also looks like a fun shadow to use on the eyes.
I also thought it was a layered polish on your tips! Haha! And I would never have guessed that it would be a purple judging from the outside of the container, that’s really neat. It did come out very pretty though!
That’s really cool! I thought it was flakies or something layered on the tip. Very cool!!!
Not really as I needed to get the powder on to the polish when it was wet so it would stick and I was worried that a brush would mess with the black polish underneath.
Thanks Lucy. I am always so careful with the pigments as well – I always cough and knock it everywhere or something silly.
Thanks Velvet – it is lovely and I have been using it non-stop – eyes and nails! – since I got it a couple of weeks ago!
It’s mad isnt it – a white shadow that turns pink when combined with black. Love it!
Hi Judy and thanks. If it wasnt so fiddly I would want to try it with all my other eyeshadows!
Ooooh, pretty and what a great idea.
