I can’t believe we’re in September already – what on earth happened there? Any way, to kick off one a new month I am pleased to welcome Farrah, aka Makeup It Girl to Just Nice Things. Farrah is one of the kindest and friendliest people I’ve come across since starting the blog. Oh, and she is utterly beautiful and very handy with a make-up brush too. Check her out here!

1) Why did you start your blog?
I started my blog as a bit of a joke really. I was a pro MUA before I got into PR, and all of my friends and past clients ALWAYS ask me for advice, product info and tips. So, two of my good friends (notorious for asking me for advice) told me to set up a blog. The name make up it girl, was the name they gave me before blogging.
2) How long have you been blogging for?
I have been blogging for a year and a bit. So, still a baby and still lots to learn.
3) What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I LOVE when people tweet or email at me and thank me for recommending a product/treatment. It is so satisfying to hear that what works for me has worked for someone else.
4) What frustrates you most about blogging?
Hmmm. That I am rubbish with my photography and that I don’t have the money to spend on ALL the things I want ( to blog about).
5) How much time a week do you spend on your blog / reading other people’s blogs?
I read other blogs every day, mine varies. Sometimes I spend around10 minutes if it’s a quick update, sometimes hours if I am researching a product/service.
6) What advice do you have for aspiring beauty bloggers?
My advice is don’t go into it thinking you’ll get freebies, I have bought 98% of everything I have blogged about. I am passionate about the beauty industry, hell, I’ve been in it since I was 17.
7) What other hobbies/interests do you have?
I LOVE my dogs, I have four who take up a lot of my time, which leaves little time for anything else. I have a pole at home which I like to use to improve my flexibility. I am and always have been interested in wildlife/nature programmes, ancient Egypt and jewellery, diamonds intrigue me, it’s crazy that most diamonds have been recycled, I love that history a diamond can have.
8 ) How many bottles of nail varnish do you own?
As I work for ORLY, I have over 150 bottles! Probably more, as I stock up on doubles of favourite limited edition colours.
9) Do you set yourself a shopping budget, or do you purchase on an as-and-when basis?
I buy as and when, if I can’t afford it, I can’t have it. Simples.
10) What is your favourite make-up brand, and why?
Difficult to choose one because I have worked with all of the best brands! I’d say NARS for blushers, Chantecaille for their tinted moisturisers and YSL for lippies (have I just cheated? Ooops)
11) Do you ever leave the house without wearing make-up?
Yep, all the time, when I walk the dogs, nip to the shops.
12) What is your favourite beauty product and why?
At the moment, BIOEFFECT Serum. I LOVE this stuff, it has really made a difference to my skin, I love how I can use it anywhere, saves space when packing and time before bed (more sleep time).
13) What is your favourite nail varnish of all time? (yep, only one!)
ORLY’s Va Va Voom.
14) Tell us about the best holiday you’ve ever been on?
Maldives, been there twice and I’ll never get bored of it!
15) What would be your ideal day off?
At an exhibition or at a theme park.
16) What is your favourite TV show?
Depends on the genre. Love Law & Order SVU, Without a Trace and Lie To Me.
17) What music do you enjoy listening to?
ANYTHING. My music is always on shuffle. I could singing along to reggae one minute and then wanting to cry at Coldplay the next.
18) What is your favourite food?
I’m a veggie (well pescetarian as I eat fish), I LOVE Japanese. Nobu is my fave place to eat ever.
19) Where would you most like to visit in the world? (money no object)
French Polynesia (ahhhhh, dreaming of it as I type)
20) Tell us a secret…
Hah, no chance. It will no longer be a secret. He he.
Thanks, Farrah! Remember, if you have a blog and would like to participate in 20 Questions, please send us an email to the usual address.
