Today’s blogger is Kat from Kat’s Beauty Reviews. This is a really nice blog. Kat has a fantastic attitide towards self image and feeling good. I really like her Positive Beauty segment and keep meaning to take part it myself. You can tell that Kat is an accomplished writer as this shines through in the quality of her reviews and musings. Check her out here

1)         Why did you start your blog?
There are a few reasons really, but the main ones are because I’d just started to figure out what products to use to tackle my oily skin, and I thought that if I was struggling to tackle it, then I imagined that there were a lot of other girls out there, who were too. So, I wanted to try and help them out. I was also tired of not being able to understand all the jargon that I found on products, and I wanted to start figuring out what it all meant.

            2)         How long have you been blogging for? Overall, I’ve been blogging for around seven years, starting with a very rubbish blog that I was writing during my final year at Uni, but I’ve been writing my Beauty blog since April 2010.

            3)         What do you enjoy most about blogging? I love being able to share my opinions on products, and helping others tackle the same issues that I have, like oily skin and having hair that tangles really easily. I also like the community-feel between beauty bloggers, and have found it to be a great way to make new friends.

            4)         What frustrates you most about blogging? There isn’t really that much that frustrates me about blogging, but it really frustrates me how there are a lot of people that think that blogging is a waste of time, and isn’t a serious form of expression or writing.

            5)         How much time a week do you spend on your blog / reading other people’s blogs? Sometimes I think too much, but I enjoy it! I love writing my blog, and never seem to run out of things to talk about, but there are so many other fantastic bloggers who have lots to say about products that I haven’t yet tried, so it’s nice to check them out and see what I might have missed.

            6)         What advice do you have for aspiring beauty bloggers?Be completely honest with yourself, and your readers. If you honestly do not like a product, even if you have been sent it by a company or PR agency, then you should always say, but make sure you explain exactly why you don’t like it. As a reader of blogs, I love finding out why people don’t like specific products, because it allows me to come to a better idea of whether or not I want to try it for myself. Some products just aren’t suitable for some skin types or tones. Most importantly, be true to yourself. If someone asks you write about something you don’t fully believe in, there is no harm in saying “no”!

            7)         What other hobbies/interests do you have?

My biggest interest is of course my writing. I’ve been writing since I was about six, and if anyone can’t find me, I’m usually in some corner jotting down ideas in a notebook, or tapping away furiously at a laptop.  I’m also a huge self-confessed video games geek. It’s all my brothers fault, but I spend way too much time on my Playstation!

8 )         How many bottles of nail varnish do you own?

Weirdly, not that many! I think I have about 30, including a couple of Konad Special Polishes. Okay, now I’ve written down 30, it sounds a lot, but I bet compared to some beauty bloggers, 30 is nothing hehe 🙂

            9)         Do you set yourself a shopping budget, or do you purchase on an as-and-when basis? I’m not organised enough to set myself a budget. I really wish I was, but I’m afraid that I’m definitely an as-and-when kinda gal. Which is really bad, since I get paid weekly! But even worse is the fact that I shop both in real life, and online…not good!

            10)      What is your favourite make-up brand, and why? Urban Decay. Without question. I love how vivid the eye shadows  and eye liners are, and the selection of colours is amazing. I just wish they were a little cheaper, and had more offers on products over here, in the UK.

            11)      Do you ever leave the house without wearing make-up? Sometimes. If I’m just popping to the shop I’m quite happy to go out without make-up. But, if I’m going further then I prefer to wear it. These days, I don’t really wear much more than eye liner and mascara anyway!

            12)      What is your favourite beauty product and why? At the minute, I love Eos Lip Balms. They are so cute, and smell delicious! Plus they’re 100% natural, and apply nice and smooth. I’m a bit of a lip balm addict!

            13)      What is your favourite nail varnish of all time? (yep, only one!) Again weirdly, this is an easy question: Rimmel’s Blue My Mind. It’s a kind of bluey/purple colour, and I love it so much, that it didn’t take me long to run out of it. I love wearing it by itself, or mattified with a matte top coat, or with cute white stars using a Konad plate! It’s so adaptable!

            14)      Tell us about the best holiday you’ve ever been on About three years ago, my Mum and I went to Newfoundland, in Canada to try and trace our family history. It was the first time I’d ever been on a plane, and only my second time abroad (the first being a school trip, which ended in a lawsuit, so I like to think that one doesn’t count!), so it was a very big deal for me. We ended the trip by spending a couple of days in Toronto, including a trip to Niagara Falls, which was mind-blowing. We didn’t find much information about our past relatives, but we often recall the trip, purely because we spent so much of it laughing (primarily at the fact that my mum had bought a pair of flip-flops that were dirt cheap, but were actually both right-feet, and then the fact that she took them home again, instead of throwing them away!!)

            15)      What would be your ideal day off? Going shopping, a trip to the cinema and a nice slap-up meal. I’m pretty easy to please, really 😛

            16)      What is your favourite TV show? At the minute I’m really loving Skins and Being Human, but I’m also a big fan of Misfits. Why are British seasons so short?!

            17)      What music do you enjoy listening to? I’m not really very up to date with chart music these days, but I listen to a lot of stuff, from indie to film soundtracks and a little bit of pop.  But, my favourite band of all-time is Linkin Park.

            18)      What is your favourite food? Bangers and Mash with lots of gravy…delicious!

            19)      Where would you most like to visit in the world? (money no object) Macchu Piccu (not sure if I’ve spelt that right), Malta, Australia, New Zealand, I’d love to go to Canada again, China. Honestly, I’d love to go practically everywhere that isn’t a war zone, or scary!

            20)      Tell us a secret… I can’t tell my lefts from my rights! It sounds crazy, but if someone asks me which way to go, I have to really think about it, and I often get it wrong. It’s one of the (many) reasons why I don’t drive!
