Today’s blogger is Jade, from the fantastically named Fashion & Beauty Disaster blog. A newcomer to the blogging scene, I like the way that Jade has thrown herself into blogging and tweeting like a veteran. Her blog is a great mix of high street beauty, and I recommend that you check her out here!
1) Why did you start your blog?
To be honest I’d always been really intrigued about the blogging world but never knew what to blog about, I never realised there was a whole empire of beauty bloggers! I found a thread on The Student Room which was full of beauty bloggers showing their blogs, I read a few and just thought I’d have a go.
2) How long have you been blogging for?
Since the end of June, so not very long at all compared to some of the veterans!
3) What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I love make-up and anything to do with beautification, I just like to show my make-up collection and let everyone know what I think about different products. I also want people to know that beauty doesn’t have to cost the earth!
4) What frustrates you most about blogging?
At the moment it’s definitely frustrating that I can’t seem to get my blog out there quick enough, I’m being really impatient and I know that it takes time for people to see your blog.
5) How much time a week do you spend on your blog / reading other people’s blogs?
Ohhh far too much time, much to my other half’s despair! I’d say at least 2 hours per day, I feel like my throats been cut if I can’t use the laptop for a day… using my phone just isn’t the same!
6) What advice do you have for aspiring beauty bloggers?
Don’t expect to have 100 followers within the first week of starting your blog, get a twitter, get a youtube account and read lots of blogs to see how the professionals do it. DO NOT under any circumstances copy anybody’s work, its disrespectful and you will definitely not find a following doing that; remember that you always get found out!
7) What other hobbies/interests do you have?
I like swimming, walking, watching films and eating. To be honest I have very little spare time because I spend half of my life working in the pub which my other half owns.

9) Do you set yourself a shopping budget, or do you purchase on an as-and-when basis?
I need to start setting a budget because just lately I have bought absolutely loads of makeup because I’m trying all different brands to see what they have to offer. At the moment I’m looking for bargains, seeing what’s on offer and buying it as-and-when.
10) What is your favourite make-up brand, and why?
It has to be Benefit, I’ve been using it for years and it’s a brand I really trust. I love their packaging and the majority of their products are lovely (with the exception of That Gal primer… that broke me out in spots)
11) Do you ever leave the house without wearing make-up?
Yes, as I said earlier I swim a lot so I often leave the house to go there without any make-up on, I figure no make-up is better than panda eyes when I’ve finished.
12) What is your favourite beauty product and why?
Hmmm… it has to be Benefit Boi-ing; it covers all manner of facial imperfections, and believe me I have plenty!!
13) What is your favourite nail varnish of all time? (yep, only one!)
Barry M Instant effects; without a shadow of a doubt, however, I have yet to try an O.P.I nail polish (a crime in itself, I know) so maybe Barry M might have to take a back seat when I eventually invest in some O.P.I.
14) Tell us about the best holiday you’ve ever been on
I went to New York and Washington in 2009 with college on a history trip, it was absolutely fantastic! I officially love the USA after that trip, everything in NYC is larger than life and some of it you really do have to see it to believe it; being in Times Square at night really is an experience.
15) What would be your ideal day off?
Lying on the sofa all day with a few good films, a supply of Walkers Sensations spare rib rice crackers, Galaxy chocolate and full fat coke. (so wrong, but yet so right!)
16) What is your favourite TV show?
Waterloo Road… it always guts me when it finishes and I have to wait forever for the next series.
17) What music do you enjoy listening to?
I’m really into Lady Gaga at the moment, when she first appeared I wasn’t overly keen but I love her newer material. I also like listening to older stuff, Neil Diamond is probably my guilty pleasure, I don’t know anyone my age who likes him… I’ve even seen him in concert.
18) What is your favourite food?
It has to be stuffed crust pizza with a bit of everything on it!
19) Where would you most like to visit in the world? (money no object)
I’m absolutely desperate to tour North America; I’d love to see the hidden, less glamorous parts.
20) Tell us a secret…
I have a slight OCD about washing my hands (rubbish secret, I know, but I’m pretty much what you see is what you get)
