I’m really happy to have Amanda, aka A Beauty Blogging Blonde on Just Nice Things today. Amanda and I “met” on Twitter last year and rapidly bonded over the fact that we were getting married within a couple of weeks of each other. Not to mention a mutual obsession with make-up and reality tv. And waking up ridiculously early at the weekends! Check out her fabulous blog here!
1) Why did you start your blog?
I was on a 4 month break from work and after a few weeks, I noticed my typing went rapidly down hill. So I started the blog as basically an excuse to write stuff each day to keep my typing skills up! I figured I might as well write about something I enjoy, so started Beauty Blogging Blonde. It was also a great place to post photos of makeup I’d tried – without realising at the start, I was looking for somewhere to put FOTDs!
2) How long have you been blogging for?
Just a year. It was my blog’s 1st birthday last week.
3) What do you enjoy most about blogging?
Reading people’s comments, mostly when people comment to say they found it useful or helpful, or that they are off to recreate something I did. I love the community too; I’ve met so many like-minded people and a few good friends, which, without blogging, I would never have met.
4) What frustrates you most about blogging?
Struggling on days when I can’t think of what to write – probably the most unoriginal answer! Also, uploading photos onto blogger makes me want to put my own head through a wall.
5) How much time a week do you spend on your blog/reading other people’s blogs?
Probably about 10 hours a week. YouTube probably takes an extra 10 hours a week too.
6) What advice do you have for aspiring beauty bloggers?
Be geniune. Don’t write just because you hope you’ll get free stuff. Use good photos, write actual content (i.e. not just press releases), don’t steal from other blogs and most importantly, interact!
7) What other hobbies/interests do you have?.
Other interests? Does Twitter count? Big Fat Gypsy Wedding? No?
8 ) How many bottles of nail varnish do you own?
Aha! I used to own 100s, but then I discovered Biosculpture gel and now only have about 3 in case of emergencies!
9) Do you set yourself a shopping budget, or do you purchase on an as-and-when basis?
No, I buy when I can. just on an ‘as and when’.
10) What is your favourite make-up brand, and why?
Hmmm. I love Chanel. I don’t own that much, but what I do is fab and unrivalled in quality.
11) Do you ever leave the house without wearing make-up?
Yes, all the time. I’d rather go out with none than with it badly applied and looking crap, so often I go out into town at the weekend without make-up, or to work without it. I need to be in the mood to apply it and if I’m not, it looks rubbish. So yes, I have no problem leaving the house without it.
12) What is your favourite beauty product and why?
Mascara. I have blonde eyelashes. Nuff said.
13) What is your favourite nail varnish of all time? (yep, only one!)

14) Tell us about the best holiday you’ve ever been on.
My honeymoon. For obvious reasons. We went to Vegas, Hawaii and New York and it was amazing. Also, there was Sephora on every corner.
15) What would be your ideal day off?
I’d like a day in London, unlimited budget to go shopping, lunch at Dorchester, some more shopping. Maybe some pampering, then dinner & cocktails with friends (&hubby of course!)
16) What is your favourite TV show?.
FRIENDS. The tables at our wedding were named after our favourite episode
17) What music do you enjoy listening to?
Pop – love Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Beyonce.
18) What is your favourite food?
Fajitas and beetroot. Not at the same time, obviously.
19) Where would you most like to visit in the world? (money no object)
Fiji
20) Tell us a secret…
I have 8 tattoos. It’s not a secret, but not many people know…
