As some of you might know, once a year, Estee Lauder release a capsule limited edition Bronze Goddess collection, always named after a desirable holiday getaway. This year, they bring us Capri, which contains shimmery golds and turquoise blues. Now, if only we could have some sunshine to go with it, please?
The perfume (£40 for 100ml) is a very light “eau fraiche” spritz of citrus scents, with Top Notes of Cassis, Mandarin and Lemon Leaves, Middle Notes of Jasmine, Samabac, Muguet and Peony, and finally, bottom notes of Creamy Vanilla, Amberwood, Patchouli, and Musk.

Phew. I am dreadful at describing perfumes but to me this does evoke summer holidays, outdoor cocktails and suntans. And unusually, my husband likes it too, and he is notoriously hard to please when it comes to fragrance. The bottle is beautiful and looks great. My only gripe is that I wished the scent lasted longer as it needs refreshing every few hours.

Also of interest to me, of course, was the nail varnish from the collection £14 for 9ml). Molten Lava is an odd choice for a Summer nail varnish, as it is a deep brown with purple and golden veining. Far more Autumnal, if you ask me. Unfortunately this is one of those polishes that look so much better in the bottle as once on the nail, it goes a bit flat. The shimmer and multi-faceted colour shifts kind of disappear and only come out to play under electric light. I do want to give this one another chance, but as you can tell from the photos, it’s not really worth forking out for. Shame, as I love Estee Lauder polishes (indeed, it applied and wore like a dream) and this one had so much promise.
