I have finally finished my second pot of Drunk Elephant’s Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser. The first time I used it, the balm impressed me. Now I am not sure I like how it feels. It’s because prior to starting on the second pot, I’d spent approximately 14 months using a different cleansing balm – the Korean Banilo Co’s Clean It Zero. I bought a pot off eBay (there are many sellers for it) in July 2019. It was the biggest size they do at 180ml for £17.20, which was risky but I had a strong feeling it wouldn’t be a regretful purchase. When I finished the enormous pot I promptly ordered a replacement.
Clean It Zero was recommended to me by my dear (‘tuttee bum’) Fashionicide, who won’t use anything but Korean skincare. Korean skincare is pure, ground-breaking, innovative and leaves western skincare in its dust. In short, this colourless and scent-free balm is applied sparingly and melts into an oil before adding water to emulsify and then washing it off. It will remove all traces of make-up and SPF. When using a cleansing balm, you should massage into the skin for a good minute, however extend this period and give yourself a good 5-10 minutes (whilst watching some TV) and the fun starts.

I’ve discovered with using Clean It Zero it brings up oil plugs to the surface, not to mention you get a decent facial at the same time…and this is brilliant! Cleansing balms are my favourite – I love how it feels and melts, and I find it’s more thorough, effective and enjoyable to use over other types of cleansing products.
There is a sample size available (at 7ml) as well as a variety of Clean It Zero cleansing balms for different skin types but you can’t go wrong with the original. You can pick this up at Korean skincare e-retailers such as Stylevana.
