I’ve frequently said that I am a huge fan of 2True polishes. Considering that they are hidden away on a little stand in Superdrug and are rarely dusted and often overlooked, the quality of many of these nail varnishes is remarkable. At £5.00 for three, I have snapped up more or less the entire range. I frequently use the pink creme polishes to provide a base for other sheerer shades that need layering, and I love the formula, and the fact that they are pretty much opaque in one coat.
I was recently approached to see if I wanted to rest out some new polishes from the range. It was a no brainer really – of course I did. Although I did so with something of a puzzled expression on my face. I saw a press release on these new polishes, heralding them as the alternative to more expensive brands (cough, cough Chanel). So here we go again – more dupes for expensive shades.
First up, which is meant to be akin to Particuliere. This is two coats of it, and let me tell you, the quality of this 2True creme is streets ahead of the Chanel. I’ve mentioned before that Chanel chips on me like a fiend and I have vowed not to spend £16 on a bottle of it unless the shade is to die for. I’ve used Particuliere on my middle and little fingers, and the 2True on the others. They are ever so slightly different, but not obviously so.
Next up, the pretender to Paradoxal’s throne. Paradoxal is a weird one. I wanted to like it so badly, but I wasted so much time hoping for the shimmer to appear. Plus it chipped after a day. Same as above, I’ve used the Chanel on the middle and little finger, and the 2True on the others. You can see instantly that the Chanel is darker but 2True have definitely captured the essence of this unusual shade. Where Paradoxal leans more towards brown, the 2True is bluer and is remarkably pretty. The shimmer is about the same in both.
So, what do you think? I know we’re kind of “over” these shades by now, and we’re all looking forward to Peridot’s arrival (where I’ll need to be reminded of my vow not to splash out on Chanel), I really do wish that these had arrived sooner. But whether or not you’re wanting the latest fashionable shade, I am serious when I say that you can’t go wrong with 2True’s formula and price – two things that Chanel has yet to nail.
