NYC Penn Station

Here’s another awesome NYC nail varnish for you. In fact, just looking at the photos of this makes me want to reach for the bottle. No, not in that way, I meant the bottle of nail varnish, to apply this glorious colour yet again.

So far I haven’t found an NYC polish that I didn’t like. (Just wait til you get a load of the teal blue that I still have in my untrieds). Application is beautiful and this was perfectly opaque in two coats.

Just look at the perfect pinkness with the awesome gold shimmer over the top. Sigh. It’s so pretty. Not only is it work appropriate, I think it is one of those rare nail varnishes that would absolutely go with any outfit. Also, I am planning on wearing this as a pedicure over the summer.

Isn’t it nice when you get surprised by something? I only picked this up as Superdrug were running a 3-for-2 offer over Christmas and I needed a third item to get free. I thought that perhaps it didn’t look the most exciting shade in the bottle but in fact, this has turned out to be one of the most pleasing polishes I have, and definitely has a place in my collection.

OK so it’s not going to win any prizes for being wacky and out there, but that’s not always what you want – especially for those of you that have to wear work-appropriate shades most of the time.

I also think it’s also not a million miles from OPI’s Senorita Rosalita but I need to do a side by side comparison to be totally certain.

So.NYC. Keep doing what you’re doing. As you know, I loved Canal Street and at only £2.49 a bottle, I am going to keep on buying.

Wow, that’s so pretty! I imagine if you saw it in the bottle you wouldn’t think it was anything special though. The top photo looks lovely.

That is a gorgeous shade on you. My girlfriend bought the whole collection for mea few months ago. I didn’t have any of this brand before. I also found one of the NYC collection that is a pretty close match to a navy polish that I adore. I now own 2 bottles of it. I forget what the shade is but I was so happy to get it.

Helen, after you mentioned Canal Street I went out and bought it. Though it looks great on, I found the application to be difficult (draggy and streaky) and the wear was very poor. Heavy tip wear after one day! That being said, I LOVE this shade and may have to buy this one. I did see it when I bought Canal Street but passed on it. I have so very many polishes right now it is almost impossible for me to justify buying more. But this shade is very nice!!

Andrea – The top photo is under an electric light and the other one was in more natural light. In its “resting” state, it is somewhere between the two.

Lucy – I’m glad you’re enjoying the NYC. For a budget polish I think they are marvellous.

Beth – I’m really sorry to hear that Canal Street didnt work for you. Maybe it was a bad bottle? Certainly of all the NYC polishes I have tried, the consistency has been great and they’ve lasted 2-3 days on me.
