Aveda Shampure

My hair and I get bored of shampoos quickly. Not surprisingly when I wash it every day – every other day if I’m hibernating in-between. I decided I wanted to return to an old favourite except the price was putting me off. I can’t believe I paid such stupid money for a shampoo 5 years ago. Then again it was a time when sulphate-free shampoos were new with very few competitors. It’s a different story now with the likes of Boots stocking sulphate-free shampoos on their shelves. Whilst traipsing through various online sources, my search brought me to Aveda’s Shampure and I stopped in my tracks. I’m no stranger to Aveda’s haircare (I miss the days where they would customise and mix shampoos on the spot) but a sulphate-free shampoo by them was news to me. The reviews were nothing short of positive and price-wise, it wasn’t bad at £13.05 for the shampoo and £14.85 for the conditioner.

Aveda Shampure Shampoo is described as a gentle, pure, organic and conditioning shampoo that cleanses and fortifies any type of hair. It is also infused with one of Aveda’s original aromas, a calming mix of 25 pure flower and plant essences. This may not be to everyone’s liking, particularly as it’s quite a strong herbal scent but I personally love it and I find it relaxing and soothing.

For a shampoo, it leaves my hair soft to touch, shiny, manageable and hydrated from root to tip. It’s gentle enough to use on a daily basis, paired up with the conditioner. I can’t recommend sulphate-free haircare enough – it’s better for the health and condition of your hair, prolongs colour and does not strip it off its natural tones unlike the harshness of sulphates. I would definitely purchase this again.
