20 Questions with Walking In a Beauty Wonderland

Hey! The weekend is finally here and if you are planning a quiet one (the forecast is rain and snow apparently) then you may want to snuggle on the sofa with your laptop or tablet and read a good blog.

This week the spotlight falls on beauty blogger Rucksana who writes Walking in a Beauty Wonderland. Born and bred in Brummy, chatty Rucksana is a serious cosmetics addict and if you ever go shopping with her, she is the worst enabler. Mind you, she hasn’t yet succeeded in making me buy a Tom Ford lipstick. But she lives in hope…

Please give a warm welcome to Rucksana – she’s like my little sister.

Why did you start blogging?
Well I started after reading many beauty blogs and thinking that it would be something that I would enjoy doing. I like writing and I like beauty products so why not combine the two? Also for me it is a good way of tracking what products I am using at any one time.

How long have you been blogging?
Walking In a Beauty Wonderland was born in September 2009, but i just couldn’t commit to blogging on a regular basis. It wasn’t until last September that I moved platforms from Blogger to WordPress and start publishing on a semi regular basis. I found it much easier to use WordPress.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I can get lost in a pool of words – anyone who reads my blog will know that my reviews are long because once I start I can’t stop.

What frustrates you most about blogging?
Taking and editing pictures. It is so hard finding good light and positioning to get a decent photo – it really frustrates me.

How much time a week do you spend on your blog/reading other people’s blogs?
I have all of my favourites bookmarked on my phone, so whenever I have a few minutes in a day (usually during lunch breaks) I will take a quick look and see what is happening on the blogs.

What advice do you have for aspiring bloggers?
If you want to start a blog, then go for it. Don’t be scared by the fact that are many many blogs out there, you are blogging for yourself.

What other interests do you have?
Shopping, reading, talking and worrying!

How many bottles of nail varnish do you own?
Four. Recently I threw out all of my nail varnishes as I rarely ever paint my nails so they were just taking up space.

Do you set yourself a shopping budget, or do you purchase on an as-and-when basis?
Hahaha, Sheenie, you know I never set a budget! I buy like there is no tomorrow…

What is your favourite make-up brand, and why?
Chanel. I love the packaging and the products are of phenomenal quality. Every time i use a product by Chanel, I am blown away by how fantastic it looks and feels.

Do you ever leave the house without wearing make-up?

What is your favourite beauty product and why?
Illamasqua’s Pure Pigment in Static – it is simply beautiful. I use it on its own and over the top of other eyeshadows and it gives such a beautiful effect.

What is your favourite nail varnish of all time? (yep, only one!)
Barry M’s Dusky Mauve.

Tell us about the best holiday you’ve ever been on.
I don’t do holidays as weird as that sounds. I am very much a home girl and the thought of being away from my own bed and my cat Jessie gives me the shakes.

What would be your ideal day off?
A long lie in and then a trip to the shops.

What is your favourite TV show?
Only Fools and Horses!

What music do you enjoy listening to?
I listen to all sorts but my most favoured choice of music is Brit Asian Pop.

What is your favourite food?
Chicken biryani.

Where would you most like to visit in the world? (money no object)
To New York and spend most of my money in Sephora.

Tell us a secret…
